BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) –
Brunswick County Schools is celebrating National Breakfast Week to promote their program that gives every student the opportunity to eat free breakfast.
Robert Parker, School Nutrition Director for BCS, said the district spends about $100,00 a year on the program, but that there is still room to help more kids.
“We have seen our participation grow, but we are still looking at improving that,” said Parker. “Breakfast is a challenge with transportation and time, but we are looking at possibly doing more grab and go programs in our schools, second chance breakfast at the high schools, and breakfast in the classroom.”
