The MealViewer App
AN INNOVATIVE STRATEGY IN CRAVEN COUNTY SCHOOLS

Craven County Schools uses the MealViewer app to provide pictures and nutrition info about every meal to students, parents, and others. Every student in the district from grades 6-12, is provided with an iPad, so the app is easily accessible to all of them.

The MealViewer app is a purchased marketing item. It provides school meal menus by county/school. Hovering over items on the menu shows their nutritional and allergen information.

It includes is a calculator that students and nurses can use to get real numbers from what they ate, or to specify portion amounts as they relate to medications such as insulin.

The app is also connected to PayForIt.net, where families can pay online for their student's meals. In the future, Craven County Schools staff hopes to arrange for students to order meals from the site as well.

Check it out by visiting the "Craven" results page on schools.mealviewer.com. For more information, you can also visit the Craven County Schools site.
