Buncombe County Schools Foundation has teamed up with Park Ridge Health and other community partners to make sure kids in need have plenty to eat over the summer.
Wednesday was the official ribbon cutting for the Rolling to Feed bus. Volunteers help serve lunch, and sometimes breakfast, at 61 sites throughout Buncombe County. The bus will help reach those families that can’t make it to one of those sites. Organizers said all the kids have to do is show up.
“Every child in Buncombe County is eligible, no ID required, just find a site and show up. We are there every day this summer except July 4. But check, if there is really bad weather, we might not be there, but we are going to try,” Lisa Payne, school nutrition director for Buncombe County Schools said.
The summer meals are available to kids ages 2-18.
