Spread the Word About Summer Meals in NC
When school lets out for summer, it can mean trouble for the many students who depend on free school meals.
That's why the NC Department of Public Instruction administers USDA-funded programs to meet that need in the summer months. Almost 3,000 sites serve free, healthy meals to kids ages 18 and younger around North Carolina—and require no ID or registration.
But last year, only 12% of 900,000 kids who are eligible for free and reduced-price school meals, and their younger siblings at home, received the NC summer meals.
So we need your help spreading the word about this great program to make sure the kids who need it, know about it.
