Meals for Kids and COVID-19: How Can I Help?

Thank you for your willingness to help.

School sites and community organizations providing food are experiencing a high demand for services, and some rely on dedicated volunteers to provide meals. The NC Department of Health and Human Services and the NC Department of Public Instruction ask that people who are not at high-risk for severe illness associated with COVID-19 sign up to volunteer to prepare meals. Those interested in volunteering should call their local school district office, community organization or visit volunteernc.org.

Anyone interested in volunteering or supporting efforts to provide meals for kids can also write to summernutritionprogram@dpi.nc.gov to find out if help is needed by the school districts and community partners serving food in your area.

Share the NoKidHungryNC.org/covid19 page and the list of meal location updates on social media and beyond to help spread the news that there are opportunities for kids to get a healthy meal.

Check in with your area food bank or food pantry and your school's PTA.

We will announce other opportunities here as they become available.
